Program Description:

Spain - Spanish Immersion

Enrollment is limited and will be on a First-Come, First-Serve  basis (to be capped at 17).   
Total Spanish language and culture immersion consisting of four weeks study abroad in Burgos, Spain. Study of Spanish language at level determined by program director. For native or heritage speakers there will be a course concentrating in written Spanish and formal spoken Spanish. The program is administered by EDE (Escuela de Español), Burgos. Students will stay at one of the Residence Halls of the Universidad de Burgos.

Classes will meet daily, Monday through Friday in two sessions for four weeks. The first session will be of language instruction, the second session of culture in context. The instruction will be provided by scholars experienced in Spanish language, literature, and pedagogy. Each student's progress will be assessed throughout the course of instruction to ensure that satisfactory attainment of learning objectives is being met. Students will participate in daily local excursions and three full day excursions. 

Prerequisite: Satisfactory completion of two semesters of college level Spanish or permission from program director.

Students will receive instruction in Spanish language according to their level. Students will significantly improve their oral skills in Spanish in both listening, comprehension, and oral production, as well as develop an appreciation for Spanish as well as European culture, through living and studying that culture. Native or heritage speakers will be able to attain a level of written language more in accordance to their spoken proficiency, as well as level of formal Spanish more in accordance to their level of formal English. The faculty leader will have met students individually to determine the two courses for which they will get credit.

International Education Scholarship will be at least $870.  Most study abroad students receive a scholarship if they apply.  (Best to apply early!):  

•Completion of 12 Hours (Undergraduate) or  6 Hours (Graduate) in Fall 2018
•Enrollment in at Least 12 Hours (Undergraduate) or 6 Hours (Graduate) in Spring 2019
•Hours Counted Must be from Tarleton or Tarleton Consortium
•Completed FAFSA application on File:
•Minimum GPA 2.5 (undergraduate)
